Mrs. Adams Returns from China

We are so happy to have Mrs. Adams back from her trip to China. It sounds like her trip was a great adventure, and we are thankful God watched over her and Steve and Jesse and kept them safe while they were there.

On her return, the kids in her class were excited to try out the chopsticks she brought back for them. It was so adorable, we took pictures! Enjoy watching them innovate new ways to eat with chopsticks!

Mini Masters Art Nite

We are looking forward again to our Mini Masters Art Nite. This was one of the highlights of our year last spring. All the teachers have already been saving some of their very favorite art projects to hang, rather than sending them home with your children. In the coming weeks, we will incorporate into our unit studies lessons about a variety of art techniques and the artists who made them famous. All these lessons and projects will culminate with a gallery-style art show on Tuesday May 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 here at Pine Grove Preschool. Our classrooms will be transformed into a museum of the best art our students have produced this year. Hors d'oeuvres will be served, fine music will play in the background, and most importantly, your children will be in the spotlight! We know you will be delighted to see how creative and talented they are.

Open Enrollment for the Fall

Along with Spring comes open enrollment. We are starting open enrollment at Pine Grove Preschool tomorrow, March 15. Many of you have already taken advantage of our early enrollment period and ensured your place here for the fall. If you haven't turned in registration forms and fees, bring them in as soon as you can. The remaining spots are going to be filled on a first come, first served basis. One more incentive for turning it all in quickly is that the registration fee is only $40 up until March 30, at which time it will go up to $45.
If you have any questions or need to pick up forms, office hours are 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Welcome to Emma Underwood

Meet Emma Underwood. Emma is studying Early Childhood and Elementary Education at NAU and has arranged to do her required 40 days of student teaching here with us at Pine Grove Preschool. This will include a week of shadowing teachers and learning how we do things, followed by at least 15 days of being in charge of a classroom. Most of her classroom time will probably be in Mrs. Adams' class, but we are going to make sure she experiences all three age groups, because at this young age, each year brings so much change, and the dynamic from one classroom to the other can be extremely varied.
Emma is 20 years old. She is a wife and the mother of one son, one year old Arden. Emma spent part of her own schooling in a home school environment.
When you see Emma at the preschool, please introduce yourself and make her feel welcome!

This Week at Preschool

Well, it was an exciting week at Pine Grove Preschool! On Monday we got some awesome new playground equipment from the Aguilera family and the kids are just having a blast on it! (You may have noticed that they prefer to play outside instead of heading with you to the car a little more than usual when you pick them up!) Thank you Hank and Veronica!

We had a lot of snow on Tuesday, but PUSD didn't cancel school, so we had a lot of wet clothes and cold feet at the preschool! Try to send your precious ones to school in appropriate winter shoes and clothing on days like that, because we do still take them outside for sunshine and fresh air, even when there's snow on the ground, unless it is actually snowing.

Wednesday was Leap Day! We had fun talking about what that means and playing some leaping games! As we began our study of letter T, Mrs. Adams and her class got to finish each day by building a tent city in her classroom! How FUN!!!
Things took a turn today as we had several students out sick and even poor Mrs. Prettyman was home with a tummy bug! Keep a close eye on your children because this bug is sneaky. The early symptoms are tiredness and diarrhea, but not necessarily a fever. We did have a student throw up at school, too. Just try to use caution bringing your kids to school if you think they are coming down with it, because it seems to be pretty contagious. We are keeping things very sanitized here, and we appreciate your vigilance!

This week is also Dr. Seuss' birthday! The Hyland family brought in a fun snack to celebrate in Mrs. Eis' class. Next week, Mrs. Adams' class will be doing an entire unit of Dr. Seuss with Ms. Tasha, while Mrs. Adams is out of town. I know there are a few other Dr. Seuss celebrations this weekend around town, so try to get involved in some of that fun with your child. Dr. Seuss is a magical part of childhood (ours as well as their's!) and can be a fun bridge between the generations.

One last thing this week was our early enrollment for next fall. If you haven't gotten your enrollment forms returned, do so as soon as possible and remember to include the Registration fee in order to secure your spot. We are so excited that so many of you are returning for another year at Pine Grove Preschool. It already feels like home to our big, happy family!

Have a great weekend!
