Spring Has Sprung!

Yes, even though the weather is struggling to cooperate, Spring is in full swing at Pine Grove preschool. More time is being spent outside, so be sure to put sunscreen on your children before bringing them to school! And the warm weather activities are beginning to appear on the playground, like bubbles and even the hose.... does your child have a change of clothes handy in case they get wet?

The kids had so much fun looking at worms in the worm tables during W week.

Everyone is having a blast with the fire engine tent brought in by the Kell family. Thank you so much! I have seen it already serve as not only a fire engine, but a parade, a tree house, a turtle shell and much more!
A favorite theme of springtime is always the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly. All three classes are learning about this process in various ways. The two year old class had their Butterfly Parade. And the older classes are observing the actual life cycle of a butterfly. As they discussed it in class, taking turns naming the different stages of life, Hank tried to remember what stage came after caterpillar and before butterfly.... "It becomes a raccoon!" he shouted. Miss Emma sweetly corrected him with the word cocoon, and we knew that one had to go on the blog!

Easter

Our Easter week was a really special time at Pine Grove Preschool. For the past several weeks, teachers have been hosting a special Chapel Time right after Circle Time, to teach the children the good news about Christ's death and resurrection. The children have responded enthusiastically to the gospel message, with some even making their very first declaration of faith.
The lessons from Chapel Time were further reinforced during Table Time, with fun activities such as Resurrection Rolls - a marshmallow baked in crescent roll dough, leaving a hollow "empty tomb" when the marshmallow evaporates - and "stained glass" windows made by coloring with crayons over a warming tray for a special effect.

We got in plenty of the fun stuff of Easter, too, by dying eggs and egg hunts on the lawn.

Thanks to everyone who contributed in thoughtful ways to our Easter celebration.
